Don't Touch Anything!

This swine flu thing is pretty close to home... people travel quite freely between Houston and Mexico, and on any given day, our stores are filled with Mexican tourists. Miss Ginger is going to be quite careful to keep her hands clean, avoid touching her face, and keep her hands OFF the escalator rails! And remember ladies:

NEVER try on mascara, lipstick, or eyeliner in a department store!!! Test the color on the back of your hand, then wash it away with soap and water or an alcohol swap. Those sample trays are germ-infested cesspools of infection waiting to happen!

Carlos has family in Mexico City and the stories they tell are something out of science fiction.
Empty streets. Churches closed, so people pray on the streets. Many wearing masks. Even the soccer gasmes are played in empty stadiums.
Scary stuff.

Very much like the SARS outbreak in 2003. Toronto will never be like it was pre-SARS. In addition to the tragic loss of human lives, the film & TV industry in Toronto -- aka "Hollywood North" -- never recovered because no one would come here. Tourism was slow to return. I hope the swine flu is gone as quickly as it arrived.

It's in NY now. They have quite a few cases in Queens. Thankfully I'm 4 hours away from NYC still...I'm being extra cautious myself. (Hugs)Indigo

It's here in the UK. We have 2 confirmed cases in Scotland.

Excellent advice, especially concerning tester makeup at stores. Run away! Run away!

From what I'm hearing so far, the U.S. cases have been much milder than those in Mexico. They're still trying to figure out why, but it sounds like the virus has already started to mutate to a less virulent form, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

XO Beth
