What a slimewad!

Somehow this story slipped by Miss Ginger, until Kaio posted about it all the way from London:

Portland Mayor Admits Past Relationship With Teen
Sam Adams' spokesman says the mayor will make a public apology in Portland on Tuesday.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- More than a year after denying it, the newly elected mayor of Portland has admitted having a sexual relationship with a male teenager in 2005.
Sam Adams, who is openly gay, acknowledged the relationship in a statement Monday, after the Willamette Week newspaper broke the story on its Web site.
In Washington, D.C., for the inauguration, Adams, a Democrat, will cut his trip short to issue a public apology Tuesday afternoon in Portland, said Wade Nkrumah, his spokesman.
Adams, 45, said he and the teen were together in the summer of 2005, shortly after the teenager turned 18 in June, and when Adams was a city commissioner. The revelations come nearly a year and a half after Adams and the teen said rumors of a sexual relationship between them were false.
"I lied at the time because I was afraid that people would believe untrue rumors being circulated by an undeclared mayoral opponent that I had broken a law involving sexual relations with a minor. But this is not a good excuse," Adams said in his statement.
Despite the rumors, Adams coasted to victory in his race, making Portland the largest U.S. city to ever elect an openly gay mayor. He was sworn in Jan. 1.
In his statement Monday, Adams apologized to the teen for making him lie about the relationship. He also apologized to colleagues and voters.
The young man, now 21, did not immediately return a request for comment.

What a slimewad!!! First, he has sex with a kid. Then, he lies about it. Then, he says, "Hey kid, I'm sorry I had sex with you." Then he says, "Constituents: I'm sorry I lied, but I thought you wouldn't elect me if this got out."

Ya think?!!! I'm not sure if a city can impeach a Mayor, but Portland should sit this asshole on the flagpole at city hall and leave him there!

We work so hard to earn the respect of the world, despite asshats like George Michael, Boy George, and now this stupid douchewad! It's so frustrating!

And on top of that, he's ruined the name of a perfectly good beer!

Miss Ginger Opines on Top Chef-

Miss Ginger doesn't have the time, memory, or inclination to give a full-blown recap of last night's Top Chef, plus, this season and last night's episode were not particularly worthy of that investment anyway. However, Miss G has a meatloaf in her KitchenAid UltimaCook® EasyBake oven as we speak, and that's making her feel all Top Chefish, so she thought she share some opinions.
Radish-ka went home last night. I'm surprised Miss Curried Bread Pudding made it as far as she did. I knew she was toast when she won the QuickFire® and had to "own" the restaurant, Savasna. Which means "to sleep in yoga class". Her restaurant and cuisine was a bore.
I personally think Scallop Slurping Jamie will be the next to go. Anyone can serve "fresh, seasonal foods, presented simply". It's called shopping the produce aisle! Tom hates her, I can tell.
As cute as I think Fabio is, his Olive Oiliness can only slime him so far. Who fucks up an amuse bouche? He does what he does well, but so does Olive Garden®. He's next after Jamie.
Next will be Crazy Carla. I like her, for the karma factor if nothing else. She's like one of those bug-eyed good luck dolls you buy at a voodoo store: they're ugly, in a cute sorta way. If a positive spirit could keep a person in the game, she'd be there to the end. But it can't, and she won't.
Leah and Hosebag sucked face on the couch. Then they just sucked. That fish looked just plain nasty! I think Hosebag cooked some kind of pig. Appropriate. One of them will go after Carla, and that will leave the survivor pitted against Jeff and Stefan in the final 3.
It makes me puke in my mouth a little to predict that Stefan will win. Neither Hosebag nor Leah should have made it to the final 3, so whichever one does definitely will not win. Jeff is a little too "safe", and Stefan has just enough asshole badboy in him to pull it off. Plus, I think he's had more education and experience. And even though I know he is DD'd heartthrob, I just can't warm up to him.
But there you have it: Miss Ginger's prediction of the TopChef New York winner. Who do you think will win?

Not sure what she thinks....

This doesn't happen often, but for once, Miss Ginger is not sure what she thinks about something! She received the following email forward today proclaiming the opinions of Prime Minister John Howard of Australia. She's not sure whether the guy said this stuff or not, and she's not sure whether she agrees or not. Part of her wants to say "amen, sister", but another part says "that's just not doing unto others". She's kinda torn. PLEASE leave a comment and let Miss Ginger know what you think! (Don't you just love it when she is provocative?!)

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law
were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia ,
as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head
off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims
on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies
monitoring the nation's mosques.

Quote:
'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.
Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying
about whether we are offending some individual or their
culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have
experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority
of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries
of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men
and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese,
Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society
Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some
Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because
Christian men and women, on Christian principles,
founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.

It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls
of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home,
because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why.
All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony
and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE,
and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.
But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping
about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our
Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one
other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force
you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the
country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves,
American and Canadian citizens will find the
backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

If you agree ... please SEND THIS ON.

Why is it that..

...America's banks are in such financial distress that they are asking the Government for this huge bailout, yet everytime Miss Ginger drives through town she sees 2 or 3 new McBranches being built on every street corner?! Miss G didn't graduate from Harvard, but she's businesswoman enough to know that when times are tough the last thing on earth you want to do is expand capacity and take on additional overhead! Just sayin...

Just a Question- and a Can of Worms...

Those of you who know Miss Ginger know she will do just about anything to avoid conflict. She loves harmony of opinion and abhors the ruffling of feathers. However, on this momentous day, she has decided to open a can of worms.

She is as thrilled to see America move forward with our new President. Regardless of your opinions of him or his predecessor, I think well all have to admit America is ready for change. This Inauguration will surely go down in history as one of the most watched in American history.

For many, the one low point was Obama's selection of the minister who gave the benediction. And there is my can of worms- why do we even have a benediction? Why does this State occasion even include the words and opinions of some church's religious leader? It has absolutely nothing to do with our country, or our President's ability to lead this country. Our country was founded upon freedom of religion, among others, and I personally don't think it's appropriate to bring religious opines into the process. We should be free to enjoy our Country and State and completely avoid religion, if we so choose!

AND while I've got the can open- why the HELL do we have the President-elect of the United States place his hand upon a Bible when he is sworn in? Many American may not even believe in the Bible, and even the ones that do may not believe in the specific version upon which he (or she) places his (or her) hand!

Wouldn't it make far more sense to have them place their hand upon a copy of the Constitution? I'm not sure about you, but it is far more important for me that the President of the United States of America understand and uphold the constitution that we have all agreed will govern us. Personally, I could care less whether he even reads the Bible, much less swears on it!

Not Even Sure Where to Begin!

It was never Miss Ginger's intention to make her blog a clearinghouse site for stupid Europeans. She LOVES Europe, and though her travels there have not been extensive, the people have always been really sweet. And Miss Ginger would cut off her tongue before she would hurt someone's feelings on purpose!
That being said, they are making it too easy, really! If you remember Breakdancing Eurogirl and Electrocuted European pen juggler from a few posts back, I think you'll begin to see my point. And don't forget, these people videotaped this stuff! And, posted it on YouTube. So, in Miss Ginger's book, it's okay to laugh at them!
Anyway, to add to the list, here is European Too Smart to Read the Instructions, which clearly state "always wear the wrist strap (supplied)!

Miss Ginger's Transformation Video

This is Miss G's first attempt using Microsoft Movie Maker- kinda like Powerpoint on steroids. It's very amateurish, but I had fun doing it! I took the pics as I got ready for Coronation last night!
