I agree-having a water AND a sewer bill, we subscribe to the "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down" school..why waste perfectly good water to get rid of bodily wastes? In fact, if it's dark out, I can sometimes be found behind the garage relieving myself..no water wasted there!..lol
that's ok- i can top my husband, because i was all ready to invest in some hose to make a 'grey water recovery and redistribution device' called a siphon that would run from the sink to the tank or the tub to the tank.
I have actually heard of "greywater systems" where water that has been used from bathtubs, showers, and washing machines- while not potable, but relatively sanitary- is reused for lawn irrigation. Don't know why it couldn't be used for toilet flushing as well!

Great thought, they use lots of grey water on golf courses.
