If Wishes Were Horses, Then Beggars Would Ride!

So here's a lot of follow-up on the shit Miss Ginger has been stirring lately.....
The Houston Police Department says it has no plans to further investigate the injury of the stupid bead whore who ran out in front of a horse to claim a 10 cent trinket. They stand behind the training of their officers and their animals, and to that Miss G says: "you go, gurls!"

Up in Foat Wuth, the injured pary in the "Rainbow Lounge Incident" has had his condition upgraded from "serious" to "fair". That's a step in the right direction!

The "Celebrity Death March" continues with Karl Malden kicking the bucket at age 97. Although most remember him from "the Streets of San Francisco", Miss Ginger remembers him best as the would-be suitor of Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire". RIP, Karl.

This brings the "trouble in three's" count from an even 6 to a volatile 7...... who will be 8 and 9???

Finally, in restaurant reviews: Ralph's on the Park in Mid City, New Orleans, left Team Ginger sadly dissapointed. It came highly recommended, but Team G found the portions to be skimpy, the drinks to be weak, and the items to be highly overpriced for the value they provided. The standing joke was that we needed to drive thru McDonalds on the way back to the hotel! Sorry, Brennan's Resto Empire: no 'snaps for you on this one!

Houston Pride Dampened by Injury.

Upon arriving at the parade site last night, Miss Ginger was thrilled to see the large number of Houston's finest out on the streets. If you recall, she has ranted about the lack of crowd control last year, so this year she was very glad to see mounted police and police barricades. She's used to seeing those, because they are used every weekend in her native New Orleans to keep tourists safe in the French Quarter.

As she walked the parade, she saw the mounted police, in troops of three, riding along inside the barricade line to "remind" over anxious children not to hop the barricades or leave the sidewalk. The parade moved very smoothly this year, because there were not crowds of people swarming the floats and walkers trying to collect beads and throws.

Apparently, this grown woman needed plastic trinkets so badly that she chose to step into the street to collect them. She was looking the other direction as the police approaced her with whistles and shouted commands. Clearly, she didn't realize the police were yelling at her, so the officer, as he is trained to do, inched the horse forward toward her. Some say the horse got spooked, but I doubt this is the case since those horses are highly trained to cope with crowds as their primary duty. There would be no reason for HPD to keep a horse that is easily spooked by crowds. Anyway, she lost her footing, and ended up being stepped on by the horse, which probably did spook at that point because it is trained NOT to have people underneath it!

Anyway, the poor lady got pretty mangled. I feel sorry for her. I really do.

However, her husband, of course, is being an asshat. "This was unecessary", he said. (Yes, it was, douchebag. If your wife had respected the police barricade it would never have happened!)

He continues to say: "I understand the need for crowd control, but this was excessive." Well, clearly it wasn't, since your wife chose to ignore the "suggested" crowd control and required "forced" crowd control to keep her where she was supposed to be!

Again, Miss Ginger really feels sorry that the lady was hurt. And it looks like some plastic surgery will be needed to fix her face, but she is alive and recovering.

And I, for one, am glad the mounted police were there. It could have easily been a child under the wheel of a float, an ordeal I doubt anyone would survive!

Phone a Friend!

Miss Ginger is lingering at 39 followers! Can't somebody "phone a friend" to get her over the hill?

Speaking of phoning, Miss Ginger has been accused of "phoning it in" when she blogs about articles from the Houston Chronicle. But really, sometimes she's feeling bloggish and there's nothing going on in her little life, but there's always something in this big city that her readers will find interesting, and it's not like they read the Chron every day!

Here's an article that Miss G find's intriguing, so let's put on our Miss Marple hats and figure this out.
This middle eastern kid who is a student at University of Houston calls his mom on a Friday evening and says he's leaving school and will be to their suburban home in 30 minutes. He never makes it, and he goes missing for like 2 weeks. The police look for him, but they have no leads, so they stop looking after one day. Fast-forward 2 weeks to yesterday, and some chick stops by an auto repair shop where she had parked her SUV 2 weeks earlier to have it repaired. She goes to get something out of the car, and when she opens it up she finds this kid dead in the driver's seat. On the passenger seat is some sort of booklet all burned up, and some of the plastic has melted, but the car is pretty much intact. The kid has died of smoke inhalation. The police investigate a bit and discovered that the kid had used a credit card earlier that night at Rich's, a nightclub which is sometimes gay and sometimes not and Miss Ginger can't really even keep track anymore. (Coincidentally, this is the club where Miss Mint Julep and the Mystery/Fantasy ball are held!)
The police visit the club and find surveilance video of the kid leaving the club alone, and they interview friends of his that say "yes, indeed, we did see him at Rich's that night." (Where were these kids 2 weeks ago when this all began?!)
Now meanwhile, this kids has missed a court appearance for a burgulary charge, so there's a warrant out for his arrest.
With all these random pieces of the puzzle dangling out there, the police have decided that it was either suicide or accident and they don't think any foul play is involved. What do YOU think?
