Big Week!

It's been a big week full of big events and big hats, and more excitement still to come!!

Saturday, Miss Ginger was honored to host the 4th Annual Derby Day at the BRB, benefiting Legacy Community Health Services! This event has really grown since we started it 4 years ago, and more people than ever participated in the hat contest and general frivolities of the day!  Of course, Miss Ginger's hats had to be the biggest and most fabulous, and her first one was resplendent with pink roses in her favorite shades of blush and bashful!  All those flowers also attracted 3 huge butterflies, and the whole this topped out almost 3 foot above the top of her head!! She almost pulled an all-nighter Friday to get 3 hats together, but it was worth it to hear the crowd ooh and aah over them!

Sunday was a day of rest and reflection! In honor of Momma G, Miss Ginger spent most of the day in the kitchen, doing the things Momma G taught her!  She's always with me when I'm in there, and I can hear her talking me through every step of every recipe!  Today, we made one of her favorites: Corn and Tomato soup! It's so easy- make a vegetable broth, strip the corn from the cobs and throw it in there, and add a can of tomatoes!  Yum!  Corn is in season right now so it's really cheap and beautiful!

There were also several naps interspersed throughout Sunday as she prepares herself for the other big event of the week:  meeting Nutwood Beth and Bucko in NOLA!!  Beth was one of the first bloggers to befriend Miss G back in the AOL Journal days, and we've kept up with each other ever since, and have always vowed to meet!  So, this week is it!  She and her hubby arrived last Saturday, along with her cousin and their partner, and they have been partying all weekend!  During the week they have lots of fun, touristy stuff planned, and Miss G gets into town Wednesday evening for our first "meetup" and few nightcaps!  Thursday Miss G will work, then Thursday night and Friday, it's all about the party!  Miss G can't wait to show them all her favorite places, and is looking forward to taking them Molly's at the Market so they can meet Mr. Wu!!

They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas- presumably because every vows to follow that "code".  But what happens in NOLA stays in NOLA, too.  But that's because everyone drinks so much, they really don't remember!!

But, with 3 of us blogging the goings on, you can all expect a full report!

What is she Thinking?!

Nutwood Beth posted a commentary about the opportunistic nature of the papparazzi and how they can isolate a suspended "moment in time" and make up a backstory to it that is often unflattering and hurtful. She cited the case of the French media blasting Michelle Obama as being "difficult", based on this unflattering snapshot.

While I agree with Beth wholeheartedly, the picture IS an amusing accident, and although I promised Beth I wouldn't, I simply HAVE to caption it with a thought bubble that says "gurl- I will CUT you!"

But then, that's not so original, either. So I leave it to you, dear GingerSnaps! Go for it! Leave and comment and fill in the blanks! Put the words in the First Lady's mouth and tell us: "what IS she thinking?"

Full Circle!

Miss Ginger LOVES the blogoshpere!!! Today she saw a comment from one favorite blogger (Nutwood Beth) on another favorite blogger's blog! They are both GingerSnaps, so it's kinda like a SnapLink®!( I'm gonna patent that! ) It's a full circle!
Beth: you'll love Miss A's blog! I think the name Miss Alaineous fits it so well, because other than the obvious, her opinions and insight are so incredibly diverse and, well, miscelleaneous! And she's got a heart of gold and a soul to match.
GingerSnaps: if you haven't checked out these places yet- follow the links and head on over!

Miss Ginger is a Blonde!

Miss Ginger is a total blonde. Don't let the signature red hair fool you- it's definitely a wig!! One thing about blondes- their brains are kind of sticky. Once something get's stuck in there, it's doesn't come out easily. Not that much gets stuck in there. but when it does......
Soooo, when Miss G first met NutWOOD Beth back in Jland, her mind went all Diva on her and she thought: "I wonder if she lives near Tina Turner?! You know: Nutbush City Limits!" Ever since then I have always accidentally called her Nutbush Beth. And she has patiently corrected me! And I still get it wrong! So I'm gonna try, baby! Really! But if I get it wrong again, think of it as my little pet name for a very special J-land Blogger friend! Anyway, my dear, please accept my HUMBLE apologies. This song's for you:

and the words:
A church houseGin house
A school houseOuthouse
On Highway Number Nineteen
The people keep the city clean.
They call it NutbushOhNutbush
Call it Nutbush city limits.
Twentyfive was the speed limit
Motorcycle not allowed in it
You go t'the store on Friday
You go to church on Sunday.
They call it NutbushOhNutbush
Call it Nutbush city limits
.You go t'the fields on week days
And have a picnic on Labor Day
You go to town on Saturday
But go to church ev'ry Sunday.
They call it Nutbush. . .
No whiskey for sale
You can't cop no bail
Saltpork and molasses
Is all you get in jail.
They call it Nutbush. . .
Little old town in Tennessee
That's called a quiet little old community
A one-horse town
You have to watch
What you're puttin' down in old
Nutbush.They call it Nutbush.
