FINALLY!

FINALLY! Miss G has gotten her weight below 200 pounds!!! It took 2 months, but 36 pounds later she can officially say she is below 200! Damn, it feels good! Maybe Miss G will be the first Drag Queen on a NutriSystem commercial! Can you just picture it?

I think this might be Miss G's 4th of July anthem:

It's Like Crack for an OCD Drag Queen!

Not only is Miss Ginger losing weight on NutriSystem®, she living an OCD Drag Queen's dream come true! Imagine: color-coded meals that you can pop in a microwave and eat in 2 minutes! Red is dinner and green is lunch...
blue is breakfast and pink is snacks/desserts.
Miss Ginger is so OCD that she has even prepacked all of her grocery item "add ins" in the proper serving size, so in the mornings she can grab her days food, throw it in her little lunchbox, and head out the door! I would have started this years ago if I had known how easy it was, how good it tastes, and how well it works! The second shipment came today, and it had a little bear with a 10 on his chest to commemorate my first 10 pounds lost! The goal is 60 pounds so Miss G's gonna have a whole pack of rainbow bears by the time it's done!
Miss Ginger promises she won't bore you all with Nutrisystem® posts often, and she won't have trouble keeping that promise since Nutrisystem comes with its own blog, which probably should be called "The Big, Fat Blog of Boy Ginger!" Check it out if you wish, but I'll warn you it's not nearly as much fun as TFBOMGG!

It's here!

The heat, that is! The infernal Texas heat that will be us until late October! That humid, sweat through your panties kind of heat that makes you think, just briefly, that Texas may NOT be heaven on earth! I know it gets warm everywhere, but honey, if you've never been hot in Texas, you've never REALLY been hot!
Once it gets hot, everything southern kicks into bloom, and in addition to jasmines that fill the air with fragrance, it time for the quintessential among all things southern, the magnolias. Miss Ginger noticed the buds a couple of days ago, and this is one of the first of the huge, creamy flowers that will open over the next few month! This tree was here when Miss G bought the house, and it is HUGE! This bloom is a good 12-15 inches across! Whoever planted this tree really put it way too close to the structure, but it is so gorgeous and healthy that Miss G just puts up with the mess. Ya see, as pretty as magnolias are, they drop SOMETHING just about 24 months of the year! Each bud (and there are hundreds) is covered in a velvety brown sheath, and as the bud bursts open, the sheaths fall to the ground to be swept up. As each bud gives way to a flower, they eventually turn brown and fall for another big cleanup! Then, a cone forms where each flower bloomed, and produces red seeds that fall to the ground in the fall. After the seeds fall, then come the cones! And then, winter storms blow down the weakest branches and leaves, and the whole process starts again next spring! I guess the belles of the old south had the field hand to clean the stuff up. Luckily, Miss G has an OCD lesbian to take care of the mess her tree makes!

Speaking of OCD, Miss Ginger had a Marie Osmond meets Martha Stewart kinda day, as she prepared her groceries for another week on Nutrisystem®. Miss G knows herself well enough to know if she gives herself the chance to cheat, she will, so she repackages everything in the correct portion size as soon as she gets it home.

Now, back to gardening. Remember the hanging garden that Miss G planted a few weeks back? Can you believe there is a baby tomato on there already?! Those plants have really grown! I guess I'm gonna have to get some overalls and a funny hat like Weezer Boudreaux!

Life Without Pinot- Day 1

Actually, Miss Ginger is being a drama queen... she's not completely without pinot. She's just had her second glass for tonight. And she's not gonna have a third. Really. She means it. She really means it.

The pre-diabetes thing from the doctor really got to her. Here's the rub: Miss G could drop dead of a heart attack tomorrow and have no regrets. Really. She's had a great, happy life, and if the good Lord chooses to call for her tomorrow, off she'll go to be reunited with her loved ones in the afterlife. She really believes that, and this is not about a fear of dying.

It's the fear of not dying that terrifies her! She remembers standing by what turned out to be her mother's death bed, thinking "Oh, Momma, no!" Momma G loved life, too, and would have been miserable if that stroke had spared her life but had left her without the use of her hands, or without the ability to move freely about the house she considered her castle. Try as they might, Jackson and Shelby would be hard pressed to take care of their momma, and there's really no one else around to do it! So, Miss G has no choice but to get some of this weight off and start moving around more so she can stay healthy.

To that end she has decided to give Nutrisystems® a try. There's a couple of reasons why she thinks it might work.

1. It's kinda brainless. Open the pack and eat it. She pretty much does that anyway, most of the time.

2. It's automatic. They send it to the house. No grocery shopping, which Miss G hates.

3. It's built in portion control, which Miss G needs. Living alone, she tends to eat all of everything. She won't feel like eating it as leftovers tomorrow.

4. It's prepaid. She paid for it up front, so if she doesn't follow the plan she will have wasted all that money.

Of course, #4 didn't really work so well for that gym membership that she finally cancelled, or the rowing machine that's collecting dust in the guest room. Okay, scratch #4.

Still, if it can help her look like this:

or this:

It might be worth a try.
