Another Successful Mint Julep Shindig!

The Houston community came out in droves to support Legacy Community Health Services today at the 7th Annual Miss Mint Julep Contest!

Of course, being totally in the moment left Miss G completely scatterbrained, so she doesn't have photos of the winners to show you. But she still wants to give a big shout out to Mona Lott, Miss Mint Julep 2009, as well as her consorts, Susan Hayes, Ms. Mint Julep 2009 and Tami Schafer, Mr. Mint Julep 2009. Congrats to the winners, and also a big thanks to all the contestants who worked their little butts off to raise money for Legacy!

Miss G does, however, have a few pics of the glitterati that she managed to snap, plus a couple she stole from the handsome Mr. Hlavinka's facebook post!

As has become the tradition for the Mint Julep franchise, we once again brought a new entertainer out of the wings and into the fold. Houston's own Kitty Cash wowed the audience with superwoman style and super human class! She looked like she was having a lot of fun, so I suspect we'll be seeing more of Miss Kitty sometime soon!

This year also marked the reunion tour of one of Houston's most popular gurl groups, the Cu'tless Supremes! I'll let your imagine decide what the " ' " replaces, but don't forget, they ARE drag queens! As always, they brought down the house with their precision choreography!

If you've ever driven by Chez Ginger and wondered "how does that gurl keep her lawn so immaculate" the simple answer is: she doesn't! Miss G was thrilled that the OCD groundskeeper herself, Ms. MB (right) and her lovely partner Ms. Liz (center) offered to share their reserved table with Miss G! And Miss G was more than happy to accept, since, about halfway through day two of this drag-a-thon, those 4 inch spikes were killing her!

We ended the day with a special photo op featuring Miss G, Kitty Cash, and The Empress of the Royal Sovereign Single Star, Marcia Mink Gill.

What a great day we had and what a lot of money we raised! Miss G will get a total for you once we're through counting! That was a lot of crumpled singles!

Post Coronation Post

Miss Ginger is back from the ERSICSS Coronation and has to say she had a lovely time. These things have been known to go on until 2 or 3 in the morning, but this year, Mistress of Protocol Crystal Rae Lee Love kept things on a tight schedule and kept the microphone out of the hands of babblers! We had new Empress and Emporer Elects by 11:30pm, and Miss G was in bed by 12:20. A record, I'm sure!

It was a special night for ERSICSS as they named their 25th aspirants to the throne! In honor of their Silver Anniversary, the Queen Mother of the Americas, as recoginized by the International Court System, was in attendance, and she announced several recognitions in honor of Houston's 25 years of participation in the International Court System. Miss Ginger was very pleased that she chose to recognize 2 Houston organizations outside of the Court System, for their support of the court and their efforts to support the community. One was the Colt 45's, a very worthy leather/levi oriented service organization, and the other was the Krewe of Olympus- Texas, Inc! It's very rare for the Courts to formally recognize any group outside of the system, and especially a group that elects a King and Queen. It's nice when organizations can work together!

Miss Ginger's sister, ShyAnne, was last year's Empress and this year's board President, so she was a busy girl all weekend! Miss G grabbed an opportunity to snap a photo with her right after a costume change!

And finally, after Kimberly Ann O'Neil and Bob Skinner were crowned Empress and Emporer 24, the names of the aspirants were announced. Marcia Mink Ann Gill was unnapposed, and was approved by the community for Empress. Miss G grabbed a chance to snap a shot with her earlier in the evening.

After a long, hard year of fund raising and fun raising, Marcia and her consort, JP Gill, will be crowned the 25th Monarchs of all of Houston.

Miss Ginger's Work is Done!

If all the GingerSnaps keep this up, Miss G will be out of a job! Ya see, 2 of the items that Miss G needed to cover have now been taken care of by other bloggers! Sometimes procrastination pays!
Str8upwithatwist posted some great pics of the Krewe of Olympus 12th Night Party (even though it didn't "technically" fall on 12th Night!) For you new 'Snaps out there, check out the Krewe website and see what we're all about! Our big Black Tie event is coming up February 7th. Invites are ready to mail, so if any of you local 'Snaps need an invite, be sure and let Miss G know quickly!
This coming weekend, Miss G will attend the coronation of her dear friend Miss Kimberly O'Neil, and (hopefully) witness the naming of Marcia Mink as her heir apparent. As Empress of ERSICSS, they and their Emperor are the Royal Sovereign, and will rule over the realm of the Imperial Court of the Single Star. There's lots of pomp, pageantry, and protocol, and it's sure to be the glitziest event the airport Sheraton will ever see! Anyway, Mistress Borghese gives a great history lesson on the Imperial Court on her blog, so check out all of these links! The International Court System is the world's largest Gay fundraising organization, and represents realms and baronies around the world!

Miss Ginger Makes an Appearance!

Miss Ginger appeared in Marcia Mink's show last night, benefitting Legacy, AssistHers, and the Softball League through ERSICSS. It was a great show, and Marcia was the ever gracious hostess with catered horses deovaries and everthing!
Miss G's first number was a "special" rendition of Pink's hit, "Get the Party Started", but of course, that's not age appropriate for Miss G, so she used Dame Shirley Bassey's version. Now, Miss G loves her some Dame Shirley, but she has to admit that this song is really not appropriate for her, either. However, as you can see by the fistfull of cash in Miss G's hand, the audience loved it!


Here is the fabulous Marcia, who is the candidate for Empress of ERSICSS. Voting starts Monday night at the BRB, so be sure to stop by for a beverage and a ballot! Marcia is a yes/no vote (be sure and pick "yes"!), but your vote is needed to determine who will reign as Emporer: Faclon Fuhr or JP Gill?

It was FABULOUS to see Miss Lillian Deveraux back on the scene after her unfortunate "gymnastics" accident. For those of you who don't know, Miss Lil took a nasty spill back in November, and while planned pratfalls can be funny, this one wasn't planned and she was seriously injured. According to Lil, it was nothing a few titanium plates and a lot of stitches couldn't fix, and if she was in pain at this show she was certainly not showing it! Godspeed, Lil, it's good to have you back! Check her out at Tony's Corner Pocket!

Miss Ginger's second little ditty was a song called "A Girl Like Me", but we couldn't find it on YouTube so Miss G may just have to make that vid herself!

Even SonnaMae got into the act with one of her ever popular country numbers!

After the show, we dumped Miss G off at the house, and Boy G went around the corner to the Boom Boom Room for paninis and wine. We needed food, but no so much the wine! Anyway, it was good to see Kaisi and the gang! Thanks to everyone who came out to support the show, and welcome to 3 new followers who have joined us on the sidebar!!!

Miss Ginger's Appears This Sunday!

Miss Ginger Grant will be appearing this Sunday night at Tony's Corner Pocket in support of her dear friend, Miss Marcia Mink Anne Gill Magillucutty Mary Magdalene Martha Jean Smith! Okay, I embellished a little, but damn, that gurl has a lotta names! Anyho (and all ho's..) she's candidate for Empress XXV of ERSICSS, and Miss G thought in the holiday spirit Miss G would help lil' Marcia and the Court celebrate 25 years of raising funds for the Houston GLBT community. She's got a festive little holiday outfit planned, assuming she get's back to H-town in enough time to let the f*&^ker out at the waist! Miss G's is getting to be such a big girl! Hope to see you tommorrow!
