OYE!

What a week! Boy G hasn't worked this hard at work since he was a rookie! Since the last restructure, though, everyone's pretty much a rookie, so it can make for some, long, hard days as everyone's ineptitude comes to the surface! Just glad it's over! Boy G let Miss Ginger get the best of him and actually popped open a bottle of pinto grigio tonight! Some weeks are just to rugged to deal with alone!

And now, we're heading into a busy weekend for Miss Ginger!
Saturday night, Miss Ginger is guest emcee for "The Sounds and Styles of a Texas Summer", presented by James Martinez, Mr. Tony's Corner Pocket 2009, as a direct benefit for the MCC Food Pantry! Tony is alway's such a love to help out the rest of the community, so when his posse reaches out to help the town, you can bet Miss G is gonna be there!
Then Sunday, the best drag contest of the year moves to the BRB as we present Miss, Ms. and Mr. Mint Julep 2009. Miss G is honored to be listed among the headliners on this year's show poster, and this show is always a fun-filled drunk fest, but it also raises LOTS of money for Legacy Community Health Services! Miss Ginger is inviting everyone to come out to see the 2 great shows, so come out and see her! And don't forget: Saturday night, the bitch will have a microphone, and she will TALK ABOUT YOU if you're not there to defend yourself!!!

So this weekend, Miss Ginger will be one Busy Drag Queen!

2 Big Chances to see Miss Ginger!

There are 2 big chances to see Miss Ginger coming up in July that you won't want to miss! On Saturday, July 18th, James Martinez hosts "The Sounds and Style of a Texas Summer" benefitting the Ressurection Metropolitan Community Church's Food Pantry. Many folks don't realize that the summer months really wreak havoc on a food pantry, because with kids out of school, demand is high, and with so many people on vacation, donations are low! So come on out and help us feed the hungry!

The next day, July 19th, Miss Ginger joins the rest of the Juleps as we crown a new Mr./Ms. and Miss Mint Julep! It's Legacy's biggest community fund raiser of the year, and it's always lots and lots of fun! Come on out and see where Miss Ginger got her humble beginning!

Mark in DE left a comment asking "Miss Ginger, do you always wear your hair up?" and the answer is "yes, pretty much always, except for character parts". Yasee, Mark, in the summer in Houston, it's 104 degrees in the shade, and those wigs we wear on stage are 1000% polyester from China. They are hot as hell on the coolest of days, and in the summer heat, just about the last thing you want dripping down your neck is a mop of sweaty polyester! You'll notice in the pics I post that most of us girls wear updo's or short hair. Plus, I think updo's are more befitting Miss Ginger's elegant wardrobe, doncha think?!

Dragging out the Fourth!

Miss Ginger is looking forward to some R&R this 3-day holiday weekend! She's really bummed that she wasn't invited to see Tugboat and Bill's Fabulous Contraband Pyrotechnical Extravaganza, but apparently it is SO exclusive a crowd even Miss G can't get in. Maybe if she starts grovelling now she can get an invite for next year!

But that's okay, since she has been asked to do a command performance, by Royal Invite of Her Most Imperial Sovereign of the Single Star, Empress Marcia Mink Ann Gill. Apparently Marcia's having a little "do" at Tony's Corner Pocket Saturday night, starting on stage around 6-ish and finishing up on Tony's FABULOUS outdoor patio with an equally FABULOUS view of the downtown fireworks. Miss Ginger will come up with something show-stopping, I have no doubt! So, if you need a great place to watch the fireworks (with plenty of free parking!) come on down to T'sCP Saturday night!

It's That Time of Year!

It's that time of year when everyone is celebrating pride, coming together, and raising money for their favorite organizations! You just never know WHERE Miss Ginger is going to show up this time of year, because there are so many shows and invites she can't possibly be at everything! But here are a few events where there's a REALLY good chance you will at least catch a glimpse of her!

First, Alex Stroud, Candidate for Mr. Mint Julep 2009, is having a show this Saturday night (tomorrow!), 8pm, at Tony's Corner Pocket. Miss Ginger just HAS to be there for him, because Mr. Alex has worked his adorable ass off raising money for the Mint Julep Franchise this year, and tomorrow night is just another example. Plus, Miss G is totally crushing on him, even though he has a BF. (She's quite the homewrecker! Not!) And plus plus, after the show, as always on Saturday night, Tony's will have dick dancers, aka penis prancers, aka male strippers, and that's always good for an ogle or 2! Won't be the same with Mamie, Maddie, and the rest of the trannies, but it will still be a fun time!
Then, on Sunday, June 13th, the Board of Directors of ERSICSS has a show at EJ's, 2517 Ralph at Westheimer, to raise money for Legacy Community Health Services. You can be pretty sure Miss Ginger will be there as well because: A: it's a benefit for Legacy, B: she's always there for her friends from ERSICSS, C: she will have already shaved her netherlands from the night before, and D: the bartenders at EJ's are usually shirtless and handsome! How many more reasons does a girl need to put on a face and heels and strut out in style!

The next weekend, on Saturday, June 20th, Candidate for Miss Mint Julep Mona Lott hosts a show at Tony's Corner Pocket entitled "Over the Rainbow!". The ever colorful Miss Mona is sure to have a show that will wow and amaze us!

But, the month's not up yet! On Friday, June 26th, the PWA Holiday Charities are presenting a show at Tony's Corner Pocket. 8pm on a Friday is a great time to be out and about, and the Holiday Charities always put on a great show for a great cause!

The summer draws near it's close as we present the Mr., Ms., and Miss Mint Julep Contest, Sunday, July 19th, 2:30pm at the Brazos River Bottom. This year's show should be extra FABULOUS with a new venue, new performers, and some great candidates who have really worked hard this year to raise money for Legacy! If you only see one drag show a year, this is the one to see!

So keep an eye out for Miss G when you're out and about in H-town the summer! Be sure to tip her, and when you do, be sure to tell her "I'm a GingerSnap!"

Miss Ginger Makes an Appearance!

Miss Ginger appeared in Marcia Mink's show last night, benefitting Legacy, AssistHers, and the Softball League through ERSICSS. It was a great show, and Marcia was the ever gracious hostess with catered horses deovaries and everthing!
Miss G's first number was a "special" rendition of Pink's hit, "Get the Party Started", but of course, that's not age appropriate for Miss G, so she used Dame Shirley Bassey's version. Now, Miss G loves her some Dame Shirley, but she has to admit that this song is really not appropriate for her, either. However, as you can see by the fistfull of cash in Miss G's hand, the audience loved it!

Here is the fabulous Marcia, who is the candidate for Empress of ERSICSS. Voting starts Monday night at the BRB, so be sure to stop by for a beverage and a ballot! Marcia is a yes/no vote (be sure and pick "yes"!), but your vote is needed to determine who will reign as Emporer: Faclon Fuhr or JP Gill?

Marcia's lovely "sister" Ann Marie Gill was there, looking pretty as ever!

It was FABULOUS to see Miss Lillian Deveraux back on the scene after her unfortunate "gymnastics" accident. For those of you who don't know, Miss Lil took a nasty spill back in November, and while planned pratfalls can be funny, this one wasn't planned and she was seriously injured. According to Lil, it was nothing a few titanium plates and a lot of stitches couldn't fix, and if she was in pain at this show she was certainly not showing it! Godspeed, Lil, it's good to have you back! Check her out at Tony's Corner Pocket!

Miss Ginger's second little ditty was a song called "A Girl Like Me", but we couldn't find it on YouTube so Miss G may just have to make that vid herself!

Even SonnaMae got into the act with one of her ever popular country numbers!

After the show, we dumped Miss G off at the house, and Boy G went around the corner to the Boom Boom Room for paninis and wine. We needed food, but no so much the wine! Anyway, it was good to see Kaisi and the gang! Thanks to everyone who came out to support the show, and welcome to 3 new followers who have joined us on the sidebar!!!

Miss Ginger's Appears This Sunday!

Miss Ginger Grant will be appearing this Sunday night at Tony's Corner Pocket in support of her dear friend, Miss Marcia Mink Anne Gill Magillucutty Mary Magdalene Martha Jean Smith! Okay, I embellished a little, but damn, that gurl has a lotta names! Anyho (and all ho's..) she's candidate for Empress XXV of ERSICSS, and Miss G thought in the holiday spirit Miss G would help lil' Marcia and the Court celebrate 25 years of raising funds for the Houston GLBT community. She's got a festive little holiday outfit planned, assuming she get's back to H-town in enough time to let the f*&^ker out at the waist! Miss G's is getting to be such a big girl! Hope to see you tommorrow!

Halloween Happenings

Many folks call Halloween "the Gay Holiday" because it's so popular in the GLBT community. In Houston, the clubs and bars on Pacific Street actually get a permit to close the street and make a block party. Parking is a nightmare and the crowds are insane, so Miss Ginger and the gang chose to skip that scene this year and frequent some neighborhood haunts with easier access. We started at N and Out, just down the street from Chez Ginger, and Brian and the boys had decorated the place real cute. After that we headed to Tony's Corner Pocket, where we met up with more of the gang.

From there we went to Decades, aka "the doublewide" because the place looks like 2 trailers shoved together to make one big room. Even more of the gang met up with us there.

By the way- if you're looking for Miss Ginger in the pics, you won't find her! Halloween is for the "amateur" drag queens who only do it once a year. Boy Ginger is much easier to manage on a Friday night after a work day! Can you figure our which one she is?
