Queen Ginger's 2012 Oscars StyleSession!

Hot off the presses- coming in faster than this old Queen can keep up- are these photos from this years' Oscars red carpet.  If I don't name names, it's because I don't know who the fuck they are, but that won't keep Queen Ginger for holding them accountable for their fashion don'ts!  Let's jump right in!

Let's start with Giuliana Rainsick, who is clearly in need of a sandwich! Her skinny arms are so out of proportion they make her fingers look like an eagle's talons! And because she has no cleavage at all, the dress required a distracting mesh panel at the top.  Queen Ginger, for one, would certainly rather have seen the tops of some luscious boobies occupying that space!

From one extreme to the other, here's that Sherry chick from the view, who is every inch of an "H" cup if not bigger!  Once she hoisted them into position and consolidated them forward so she could hold her purse, it just sort of left a fold where her cleavage should be.  For some reason, she chose to highlight this catastrophe with a dress that draws a circle around the most difficult part of her body.  Hasslewhore is probably sitting at home in her flannel nighty, watching this on TV and snickering.

Somebody asked on Facebook "when did Sandra Bullock become Chinese?!"  Good question!  I like the dress, and I love Sandra, so I'll just leave it at that!  What's not to love about Gracie Lou Freebush?!

This must be a look from one of Project Runway's "alternative materials" challenges.  If it's NOT made of plastic garbage bag, then this bitch wasted her money, because that's what it looks like!

Kinda reminds Queen G of an outfit she wore to Bunnies on the Bayou the year it rained a gullywasher!

Speaking of trash, look who just showed up from the trailer park!  Angelina wasn't sure she would look tragic enough without all of her tattoos showing, so she used a trick she learned back in her stripper days and opened her crotch and pointed her toe. Nice!  And Brad stepped away from his Corvette and gold chains long enough to take his wife to the shin-dig; what a shame that he didn't take enough time to shave and trim his mullet!  They make Queen Ginger's skin crawl!

And while we're on the subject of tattoos, doesn't Melanie Griffith look like a class act with her's showing!  Really, honey, it's a special night... Dermanblend makes a kit to cover that shit up! All your friends did it... you should have, too!

Or, just wear a dress with sleeves!  Glenn Close did, and she looks stunning!  And what a beautiful color against a- what for it.... what color did they pick?.... RED carpet!!

You all know how the Queen feels about red on the red carpet- it looks like hemorrhage!

Jane See-more needs to take a lesson from Glenn Close and learn to dress her age- leave the toothpick arms and flat chests to the young girls!  You never want your butt to be wider than your boobs, honey!  The crumb catcher on the second dress IS practical... I hate when I drop my little baby quiche and it gets wasted once it hit's the floor. With this dress, she can just pretend like she is saving it for later!

Of course, I guess red is better than school bus yellow, especially with bumble bee black frosting! Plus, Nancy's girl's are riding a little low- she needs those tape on booby supports- the ones that come in the pink box. I know they're expensive, dear, but if you take care of them, you can reuse them up to 6 times!

While we're talking about appropriate foundation garments, look what happens when you choose the wrong ones!  All this waist nipper did was push her junk crotchward, never the direction we want it to go!  You appear to have a bit too much junk for Spanx, darling- you need a MiracleSuit!  It will do WONDER for that jellyroll!

I love me some Mya Rudolph, but leave the Spanx for the pretty girls, honey- funny girls like us need more support than that!  You need a longline body slimmer with a good tummy panel- especially if you insist on belting matte jersey.

Here's Gwen. I love to call her that, because I KNOW it would piss her off! But in that plain jane dress, who could call her Gweneth?  It's a pretty dress, but it wants a necklace. Or some earrings? A hair ornament? Something!  You are Gweneth Fucking Paltrow!  Dress to impress!

I've got more, but I'm going to end with Meryl.  Beautiful Meryl- in a dress so fancy she doesn't need a necklace.  Plus, she has the perfect earrings- that's all she needs.

I know she's not British, but does anyone else think she should be a "Dame"?  "Dame Meryl Streep". "Dame Meryl."  I think it's fitting, and since I'm a Queen, and it pleases me to do so, to all in the realm of Ginger, the land of Snaps, and the empires and baronies under my rule, I hereby declare her The Dame Meryl Streep of Hollywood.

And that's WAY better than a handprint on some stupid sidewalk!

Busy Beaver!

Queen Ginger has been a busy, busy beaver this week, and she can't believe she's just now getting a chance to catch up with all of her adorable GingerSnaps!!

This crazy week started with Houston's annual "Bunnies on the Bayou" party in the downtown Theater District. For the past few years, Queen Ginger has been a donor to this philanthropic event at the "Camp Bunny" level, so she gets a tent to shade her delicate pate, resplendent with a private "sal de bain" lest she have to stand in line behind the 3,000 other guests to do her "lady business"!  Yes, there were over 3,000 beautiful people at this year's record breaking event!

Queen Ginger and King Tony, clever Royals that they be, re-used some of the elements from their reveal backpieces to create a stunning place to "let them eat cake"!  Captain Bill provided cakes, crumpets, and tidbits for the masses as Queen Ginger and King Tony greeted, meeted, and otherwise hobnobbed with the hottest guys in Houston!  Don't believe me?  Check out the pics

Next up, Boy G co-hosted the unveiling of his newest pet project, the "Pathway to our Legacy" campaign, benefiting Legacy Community Health Services

Boy G is excited, proud, and honored to co-chair this campaign with Ben Montalbano,  a good friend and a great contributor to our community.  The event Thursday night took place at the gorgeous post-modern home of Ben and his partner Jim,  and included leaders from virtually every organization active in Houston's GLBT community and the Montrose neighborhood where the new building resides.  Most exciting is that the campaign allows individuals and groups to leave a lasting impression on our healthcare legacy for a little as $100, with a donation at the Sidewalk level.  Folks are already stepping up in droves to contribute to the campaign in memory of friends, partners, and family members who have died from or are living with HIV/AIDS, or have otherwise been helped by Legacy's services.  The Pathway and Plaza levels are $250 and $500, respectively, and there are also 8 lighted benches to be sponsored, at a donation of $5,000. Better hurry, though, because 2 have already been claimed- one by Miss Ginger, and one by Boy Ginger's generous employer!! There's only 6 left, and they will go quickly!

Friday night, Queen Ginger and King Tony were invited to perform at "Marty, the Montrose Art Party" benefiting the Healing Arts Program at Art League Houston. Although Miss G can barely draw a straight line with a ruler, she LOVES what the Healing Arts Program offers its clients, and she had a great time meeting them, seeing their work, and entertaining the crowd!

Saturday is "errands" day at Chez Ginger, and Sunday has become "cook for the week" day, so the rest of the weekend is kinda shot. Then, all of next week will be a blur as Miss Ginger prepares for one of her most important events of the season, "Derby Day", her signature event benefiting Legacy!

With all the interest in hats generated by the Royal wedding,  the Big Hat Contest is bound to be a major hoot!  Queen Ginger promises there will be lots of pics next weekend- but until then,  she may be a little scarce as she prepares herself and others for this big shindig!

The Bayou City

Houston is known as "the Bayou City", mostly because it sounds way better than "the Drainage Ditch City"! Having grown up in South Louisiana, Miss Ginger probably knew what a bayou was long before she could define the words "stream" or "creek". Today's Houston Chronicle had cute article called "Bayous for Dummies" that Miss Ginger thought was clever and well written, if not a tiny bit misguided. The part that she thought was questionable is that the writer almost seems judgmental that the Cajuns created the word "bayou" instead of simply using the French word "rive" to describe these bodies of water. There are, however, some distinct differences among bayous, creeks, streams, and rivers, and Miss Ginger is about to set you all straight, so to speak!

1. Bayous are different from rivers in their volume and rate of flow. Rivers tend to be much deeper, and flow at pretty much the same rate all the time. Bayous, Mother Nature's drainage ditches, flow rapidly for brief periods after rainstorms, but return to their lazy, barely moving state as rapidly as possible.
2. Bayous are different from creeks and streams in that they never dry out. We have creeks and streams here, as well, mostly in North Louisiana and West Texas, where the terrain becomes less flat, if not actually hilly. Because of their tilted positioning, water flows through creeks and streams from one place to another, until place one is empty, at which point we have a dry creek bed or stream bed. In the flat wetlands of Louisiana and South Texas, bayous don't dry out.
3. As noted in the Chronicle article, bayous sometimes reverse their flow. Miss Ginger does not know of any rivers that do this. Correct her if she is wrong.
4. Bayous are amazing natural habitats. Because they never dry out, and typically flow slowly, they are safe, stable environments for all sorts of wildlife and flora. The bayous of South Louisiana have fed the Cajun people for centuries!

During the oil boom 60's and 70's, Houston's oil-baron civic leaders faced problems with flooding as they grew and paved the city, creating more runoff than Mother Nature could handle. In an attempt to improve the flow, these "brilliant industrialists" scraped away the trees and grasses, dug away the curves and turns, and paved miles of these bayous into big concrete drainage ditches. Luckily, in the 80's and 90's, as the oil bidness suffered and high tech required more educated workers, civil engineers began using the concept of holding ponds and and reservoirs to retain excess rainfall, and contain it for evaporation, rather then trying to move it all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Miss Ginger hopes that someday, environmental groups will take on the project of restoring some of the bayous that have been destroyed, and replacing them with more natural, environmentally sound ways to handle rainwater. A gurl can dream, can't she?!

Miss Ginger's Easter Basket!

Every Easter Miss Ginger attends The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Fundraising Party, Bunnies on the Bayou. As a member of Camp Bunny, Miss G even gets a tent to host her friends and fans in style!

Thankfully, Miss G's sersonal assistant, Miss Shelby, thought to call the organizers to make sure there would be plenty of Miss G's favorite bloody mary mixed stocked in the tent's private bar. When she learned that bloody mary mix was not provided with the bar setups, Miss Shelby whipped up several batches of Miss G's favorite homemade recipe, refilled the bottles the tomato juice came in, and even prepared little celery/olive garnishes that can be popped right into the glass! Now they can just take it along with them and pass it off to the volunteer bartenders upon arrival! Miss Shelby sure is good at heading off a diva-dash meltdown!!

It all starts in about in hour! Miss G's gotta get ready! More later!!!

Oh, PS: Hoppy Easter, everybunny!

EGGShausted!!

Miss Ginger will not be making any of these EGGSquisitely detailed specimens this year... she is FAR too tired!!!

This bitch has been some SERIOUS busy!!

A whole string a visits at work (why can't they just stay in New York and send emails?!), plus the passing of the torch as Miss G takes on Fund Raising for the Krewe! And on top of that, this weekend is Bunnies on the Bayou, Houston's premier outdoor fund raising cocktail party! As a member of "Camp Bunny" Miss G gets her own tent at the party for her and her guests, along with private bartenders and private "facilities" for Miss G and friends to conduct their "delicate business". If you've ever stood in line at a party with your eyeballs floating, you will appreciate this amenity! All you local peeps, come check us out in our tropic paradise! That's all I'm sharing for now!

After that, Miss G's back in the skies for work in NOLA!

What are all of you peeps doing this weekend?

Busy Drag Queen!!

Gurl- I. Am. BUSY!!!

Last night was FFHH for the Krewe, and Aurora's BRB Candidate show. Miss G never quite made it to the latter! Miss G had a long day at work and those Bud Lights were just sliding down too easily!

Today, there's a birthday party for Momma Locke down in Pearland. Now, Miss G loves Momma Locke dearly and wouldn't miss her party for the world- but, as you can see by this map- Pearland is very far away, and no roads lead to it!

Still, it's better than West Columbia, where she used to live. Again, if you refer to the map, you will see that West Columbia has fallen off the edge of the Earth and no longer exists! Good thing Momma sold the house when she did! Miss Ginger's riding with Mom and Dad... she doesn't want to take Veronique off-road!

Tomorrow, there's a silent auction and fund raiser for Bunnies on the Bayou at Guava Lamp. Miss Ginger LOVES her some bunnies, and she hears the baskets are well-stuffed. Oh, and they have Easter things to raffle off, as well!

Hope you FABULOUS people are having a FABULOUS weekend as well!

Happy Easter from Project Bunway!

The Texas Weather did not look like it was going to cooperate with Houston's annual Bunnies on the Bayou Celebration, and as Boy Ginger pulled into the parking garage at Bayou Place, he thought he might be able to get to the tent before the rain started. But in the short time it took to park the truck and walk to the stairs, the skies opened up, and by the time Boy Ginger arrived at Fish Plaza it came a gullywasher! It poured for about an hour, and shortly after the rain stopped, the volunteers began setting up the bars, and all the folks around Camp Bunny got busy with their decorations!

Not knowing what the weather would do, Project Bunway got scaled back a bit, and we chose not to haul out the white runway or deck chairs for the judges. Instead, we brought a roll of trash bags, some scissors, and duct tape, and introduced the buntestants to the "rainwear challenge". We figured with inclement weather, it was about as clever as we could be, and if it stayed nasty, we'd make lots of friends with our trashbag rainwear!

As it turns out, after the storm came through the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS! It was more warm than cool, with a nice breeze in the shade. Once the weather came around, people poured into the plaza in masses, and BOTB was the huge success everyone expected!

And of course, with pretty weather, shirts started coming off, and even one of Houston's most venerable drag queens got all butch and boyish!
And, dear DD, don't think we forgot to get a pic of your Houston Dust Bunnies at Bunnies on the Bayou! That's Str8upwithatwist with Boy G down near the fountains of Fish Plaza!

The Easter Dilemma...

no, it's not "how do we get this huge rock out from in front of this cave...?"

The dilemma is: Who will be attending "Bunnies on the Bayou"? Will it be Boy G or Miss G? The plan all along was for Miss G to go. Each year, the largest donors (Miss G included!) are honored with a tent near the entrance to the party that houses a private bartender. Patrons are encouraged to decorate their tents to match the theme, and you can imagine at a gay event how elaborate those can become.

Miss G and her co-lieutenant decided on the theme "Project Bunway"- "for these 12 rabbits, this the the chance of a lifetime!", starring Miss G as Heidi (pregnant with Seal's baby, or course), Co-lieutenant as Michael Kors, and his boyfriend as "Meana Garzilla" (drag and makeup optional)

But here's the rub- it IS going to pour down rain today! There is a front coming through that you can see on the radar, and it's probably going to pass over Houston at T-1! And, this won't be some little sprinkly April shower. It's gonna be a full-on, balls-to-the-walls, it can only rain this hard in Texas kind of fronts, with severe thunderstorms and maybe a tornado or 2! So, the question becomes- does Miss G brave the weather, and risk ruining a wig and shoes, not to mention the humiliation of a mascara-stained face at one of Houston's largest events? Or does she send Boy G to make her excuses, and make the best of a party that will not be the grand event it could have been due to the weather? She has about 2 hours to decide, then it will be time to start painting! What's a gurl to do?!
