It's Time to Ketchup!

Hey, GingerSnaps!  Once again, Miss Ginger has gone for MONTHS without giving you any real sauce on here, so it's time to catch up!  So far, this summer has been a BLUR!

Let's start, as summer does, with Memorial Day.  Miss Ginger made a quickie trip to the Big Apple to see her dear, dear sister DD, compliments of the oft-maligned Continental
United airlines.  It was so good to see my dear sis, and yes, we did make it to "the Urges" for a little tipping the dick dancers philanthropy!  We also made a stop at Excellent Dumpling House for some Borbequed Pork Buns, just to make Mistress Borghese sorry she chose the beach instead!

Those who follow closely may remember that Miss Ginger toyed with the idea of a craft blog, but those who follow closely also know that Miss G finds it hard enough making time for this blog, much less the crafts that would be required to start another blog.  Plus, Miss G has enough abandoned blogs out there!  But, always true to her word, Miss G WILL be adding crafts to this blog in the not TOO distant future, and she has been crafting away furiously in order to have many several at least a few posts prepared before she launches into this!  Rest assured, you won't have to be crafty to enjoy these posts- snarkiness is the most important crafting skill for Miss Ginger! One of the things we ARE working on is a Dust Bunny Duster, which I know you will all want to make!
Who needs a Swiffer® with one of these guys around?!

On other fronts, Miss Ginger was ELATED with Justice Robert's vote on the Affordable Care Act!! Miss Ginger has spent a bit of time on the 'net lately talking some of her more conservative friends down off the ledge, but she couldn't be happier seeing the US take this baby step into the modern world!  No one questions the right of government to provide police protection, fire protection, hell, even the schooling of our children!  But, mention that you'd like to protect the daily health of all citizens in a similar manner and you start a firestorm of controversy!  Nutwood Beth Facebooked this great article that describes the known changes in chronological order;  it's kind of amazing how little impact this will have on most of the US!  Will there be in increase in your insurance premium? Let me answer that question with a question: "has there not been an increase in your insurance premium every year, for as long as you can remember?"  Oh, and by the way...how many tax increases can you remember in your life time from which you could opt out simply by doing something you should have been doing anyway?!! And, as many articles have pointed out, if the "tax on non-participants" didn't exist, you'd have to take out the "no pre-existing conditions" requirement, which would render the act useless.  It's a great starting point, and I'm proud to support the President who signed it into law!

Anderson Cooper came out. Yawn.

Tom Cruise came out left Katie Holmes. Yawn.

So, watcha think, dear 'Snaps.... is Miss Tommasina gay?
"Oh, gurl- you KNOW I am!!"
The Olympic trials have started, and are America's newest form of "reality TV"! Does anyone ever remember US Olympic Trials getting PRIMETIME coverage?  Clearly, there is a god!!

Cool your jets, girls, boiz, and gurls,  he's married!

Dat's right..... maddied!
And, as the rest of the world goes gaga over "Magic Mike",

Miss Ginger says: "ladies, if ya wanted to see hot guys naked, all you hadda do is TELL me!!

Happy Caturday!

Sorry we've been so quiet- it's not that Queen Ginger and Princess Shelby aren't thinking about you!  We've just been so busy with the process of "deballing" that we've barely had time to breathe!

Boy G took the last couple of days off work to help the Queen and Princess with "deballing"- the process of getting all of the remnants, reminders, and scraps of the ball preparation process packed away, sent away, or thrown away.  It's a double whammy for Queen G since she did a piss poor job of deballing last year, so there's really 2 years worth of garbage to sift through!

The good news is that we are almost done!  The guest room is clean, the library is clean, the craft room is clean, and the garage has been culled down to one pile of poo that should be under control later today!

Once done, the Queen is going to do her best to be a bit more consistent with postings!

Meanwhile, thoughts and hugs to those GingerSnaps in the Midwest and Upper South who are dodging storms and bad weather- take care of yourselves and let us know you are okay!  And to our dear, dear, David Dust, we wish a speedy recovery from the rocking' pneumonia (and the boogie woogie flu!)

Incredibly Busy!!

WTF?!  Queen Ginger is just not important enough to be THIS busy!!!
So much has been going on that Lady G just doesn't know where to begin!

First of all, it had been HEINOUSLY hot here in Texas this summer!  And DRY!!  In this soggy, humidity-ridden part of the state, we have actually been asked to ration water and reduce our dependence on electrical energy! The City of Houston has given us specific watering days (Sunday and Thursday for you detail queens!) and  ERCOT  has warned of record weekend usage, possibly requiring rolling blackouts over the weekend!  How will Miss G dry her luxurious red hair?

Additionally, social obligations have been off the charts!  It started with the HRC Gala at the beginning of the summer, and it hasn't let up yet! Last weekend was the Krewe's Trash Disco Party, and Queen G is STILL soaking her feet from all of that "boogying" and such!

On top of the social obligations, Boy G has been INSANELY busy at work, all in a good way, but there's never any rest for the winners!  Southern Decadence will be a "no go" for the G's this year... WAY too much going on, and too insanely hot to even consider attending! It's been a while since she's missed it, but this year, it's not in the cards!

And on top of all else,  the Queen decided her carriage did not befit a sovereign of her stature, so she has spent much of her online time as of late considering the options for new royal conveyance.

She's landed upon a model named after Amurca's 16th President,  and Queen G is proud to "Ride Amurcan", even though she knows it was assembled in Canada, from parts made in Malaysia!  But the engine and transmission were made in Amurca, dammit, hand assembled with loving care by migrant workers from Mexico!  It's as Amurcan as apple pie!

Lest my dear sister DD think she is going to get a ride to Gristedes after my trip through the tunnel (above), that is NOT the CDQG (Carriage de Queen Ginger)!  Her's is a more royal bronze tone, with a limited interior only found on a a select few vehicles!  And ALL Royal Carriages MUST be named, so look forward to a photo tomorrow so you can share your opinion of a title befitting such a luxurious machine!

Speaking of luxurious, Miss Ginger finally got a tour of the FABULOUS new Legacy Montrose Clinic she has been working so hard to help fund! Actually, "luxurious" is probably not an appropriate word to describe the practical, efficient facility that has been built to LEED compliance, but for the Legacy staff that has been scattered across the far-flung, under-spaced facilities, I'm sure it will feel like a dream come true!  Not to mention the clients, who will now have comfortable, spacious, private waiting rooms reserved for their specific needs!  There are separate facilities for primary care, eye care, dental care, pediatric care, behavioral care... 3 floors of care, plus administrative offices all in one place!  Both Queen Ginger and Boy Ginger could not be prouder of the "baby" they have worked so hard to produce, along with countless others in the Houston community who understand the need for this crucial care!

If you're so inclined,  plan on attending the Grand Opening ceremony on October 16th!  Miss G is pretty sure she can score you a VIP tour!!

So, our busy gurl gets to put on her scrubs tomorrow and help Boy G clean out the garage!  We can't expect that beautiful machine to bake in the hot Texas sun now, can we?!

We Must Fight for Our Right to Bear Bunnies!!!

Can you believe in Harris County, Texas, there is a law on the books that says a rabbit hutch cannot be kept within 100 feet of the closest neighboring residence?! And, if one keeps a bunny in one's home, the home essentially becomes the rabbits "hutch"? Don't know about you, but my house isn't 100 feet away from the neighbors! Even worse, a Houston animal control officer recently enforced that law?!!

People! We cannot let this happen in America!! Bunnies should be allowed to roam freely! It is their nature to be curious, peace loving beings, sniffing around the world in search of papis, curly fries, and an occasional Bicardi Limon!!

In other news, a happy belated birthday to the queen of Bunny Nation, David "Mamey" Dust!

Here's One for David!

We all know how David Dust LOVES his Brazilliant boys! Well, now we know how they capture his wrapture! They learn early!!

A National Museum for BunnyNation!!

Some couple in California has turned their home into a museum honoring the form, shape, and art of all things "bunny". Normally Miss Ginger would consider this behavior odd, but in this case, it is understandable, because the iconic bunny is so much a part of the heritage of our great BunnyNation! I know our lupine leader, David Dust, will be so proud!!

Mind Melded...

....and uber-connected! The technically deficient Miss Ginger, with the help of her even less technically savvy sister, have finally gotten Miss G up and running on twitter!!!

Since Boy Ginger already has facebook covered, she figured she would tackle twitter herself! I mean, if this queen and this queen can do it, surely so can she!

And, while still in the testing phase, she thinks she has made this plethora of useless information that she shares totally interconnected- a sort of mind-meld of all things Ginger! If it works, her blog will post automatically to facebook and twitter, and she'll be able to twit her twat wherever she is!!!

But all you blogger folks please remember to come back to blogger and comment! Nothing warms the cockles of an old gurl's heart like a friendly comment on her blog! And these days, Miss G's cockles don't get much other warmin', if ya git ma drift!

BTW, all the links you need to follow Miss G around the galaxy are pulled together very neatly in the tool bar under the header! Just click the link "Follow Miss Ginger" and choose the mind-numbing electronic social network of your choice!

So, GingerSnaps, tweet me!!! Hopefully I can figure out how to answer!!!

Favorite Movie Quote...

From Auntie Flame, via David Dust, comes a thread of favorite movie quotes. Miss Ginger has many... but are a couple:

From Steel Magnolias:
Truvy: Well, these thighs haven't gone out of the house without lycra on them sice I was 14.

Clairee: You were brought up right.

From Sordid Lives
Brother Boy: Well I did it. I walked all the way down that hall with one less piece of female attire... that is, if you consider a wig attire.

Back Attcha, Miss Alaineous!

Miss Alaineous honored Miss Ginger with the Circle of Friends Award, and for that Miss G is just as pleased as punch! Miss G "met" Miss A in the old AOL J-land, and we migrated to blogger together! Over the last couple of years I have seen Miss A heal and grow from an abused "ex" to a blushing bride, and nothing could make Miss G happier! What a gratifying journey to watch her work through all the emotions and obsessions of her breakup to a budding romance with a great guy like Mr. M! Who needs reality TV when we have all the plot we need right here in the blogoshpere?

Now, if Miss G understands the concept correctly, she is to continue the "circle" by passing the award along to 5 people. I'm going to try to name people that have not been named, but I'm doing this from memory so I apologize if I miss someone!

1st, I offer the "Circle of Friends" award to Str8upwithatwist, who introduced me to the concept of blogging. I've known him for a long time and love him dearly!
Next, I have to extend the circle to my dear, dear sistah, David Dust! I've know DD across teh interwebz for a couple of years, and have come to know him in person as a great friend, a soulmate, and an all around hell of a nice guy!
Through David, I met Nancy over at Purses and Poop! God, I love that gurl... and her babies! She is smart, funny, determined, and energetic- all the things Miss G wishes she could be! And she a mommy to 2 of the cutest little things you ever have seen!
Crossing the pond, I offer the "Circle of Friends" to Made in Scotland. I find him to be be insightful, intelligent, cultured, and just all around interesting! I always enjoy reading about the escapades of he and his xfe!
And still across the pond, I offer the "Circle of Friends" to Kaio at Melting Duvets! What an interesting occupation, and so different from anything I've ever done! I enjoy reading about his work, his life, and his worldview! Mostly, it's been interesting to know that a sex worker puts on his pants one leg at a time, just like all the rest of us! (Although perhaps he does it a bit more often!)

I have so many more friends in the circle, and I know they all know who they are!!! Be sure you post the icon on your sidebar so everyone knows you are part of my "Circle of Friends!" Love to all!

The "Homosexual Agenda"!

My dear friend David Dust reminded all us Houston Bunnies and 'snaps to get out and vote today, and in his plea he referred to Annise Parker's opposition accusing her of furthering "The Homosexual Agenda"! Check it out on David's Blog! What a hoot- those idiots give us credit for being WAAAAY more organized than we really are!

DDB Weekend Update...

For those of you who are following the debauchery that is DDBW II, here's a quick rattle of the happenings so far.
We all met up at DD's for drinks, then dinner at an Afghani restaurant in his neighborhood. "Afghani" is exotic for "shish-kebobs on rice", and they were quite tasty, and just the perfect amount of food to form a base for a night of heavy drinking without making one feel all "bloaty". After a couple more drinks at DD's, we took at couple of cabs to 2x2 (2nd at 2nd) to "the Urges". After a little mangling and wrangling (and elbowing a few bitches!) we got the spot we wanted at the corner of the bar. DD instantly fell in lust with the great big bubble-butt Papi, Miss G instantly fell in lust with the cute young Papi with long hair and bedroom eyes (she remembered him from the last trip!) and Howard fell in lust with the DJ. Quelle surprise there! We were relatively well behaved except for the whole elbowing thing, and we didn't touch anything that wasn't offered. And a lot was offered. And we touched. It was all good!
Saturday am is rainy in Manhattan. We've accounted for everyone, and are going to gather in a few to head over to Excellent Dumpling House for some excellent dumplings and some Barbequed Pork Buns!!! More later!

Packinherbags.... AGain!

Miss Ginger is packing her bags... again! And this time it's a triple pack! 1st, she has to pack Boy G for a trip to Baton Rouge tomorrow. Smart boy actually routed the trip through NOLA and planned the sleepover there, so he'll land in NOLA tomorrow, hit the casino, and then drive the short trip to BR Thursday am for the workday, then fly back home that night. Then, she's got to get him and herself packed for DDBW II!! What an ordeal! He'll be easy to pack... a couple of pairs of jeans, some sweaters and a jacket, and he's good to go... he hasn't worn underpants in years!

Miss G, on the other hand, has got some work ahead of her!
It starts with the shoes... she's got to pick something FABULOUS and stylish, yet walkable... it's NYC after all! That schlep from the hotel to Esquelita could get ugly in the wrong shoes! Once the shoes are picked, she can choose an ensemble... something suitably FABULOUS to greet her NYC fans for the first time, yet not so flashy that she attracts il paparazzi! Why ruin an otherwise perfect evening with gawkers?! Once the clothes are selected, they will dictate the appropriate foundation garments... these thighs don't leave the house without lycra! She'll have to sift through the tackle box of spackle to find the cosmetics she'll need, because she doesn't want to haul the whole box on the plane! Then, there's la coiffure! OMG, what a hassle! It has to be wrapped in bubble wrap, nested into a corrugated box, and carefully place into a suitcase to be clearly labeled "FRAGILE- Handle with Care!" so those handsome luggage handlers will know to be particularly careful with Miss G's most important feature! No wonder the bitch doesn't get out much!
But, it will be worth the hassle to see her DEAR sister Mamie, the handsome Marker, and the ever chipper Sissy and his handsome hubby Joe! Oh, and Howard, Miss G's official DJ for the weekend! Gurl don't go nowhere without her soundtrack! Toodles, poodles! Hope you get to see me in NYC! Be there or miss Miss Times Square!!!!

A Tearful Goodbye to DD and NYC!

After another FABULOUS day in the Big Apple Miss Ginger left dear DD on the corner of 44th and 8th with a mist in her eye as she bid goodbye to her dear sister and the city that never sleeps!

It was a great day overall! Miss G started the day with brekkie at the hotel, then a walk to the mothership to check things out.

After everything passed inspection, she headed up 6th avenue to Bryant Park to make sure progress on the tent erection was progressing as planned. (She loves her a good tent erection!) Since those plans seemed to be firming up nicely, she decided to check out the sistership, Bloomingdale's, so she headed up 5th Avenue. On the way, she realized her brown plaid shorts were riding way too low since she has gotten too damn skinny, so she stopped into the Banana Republic near Rockefeller Center to buy a belt, and enjoyed her second celebrity (?) sighting of the trip!

Who should be browsing for a new pair of chinos but Bob Tuschman, Senior Vice President of Programming for the Food Network. Apparently, it's a pretty good gig, since he clearly doesn'twork on Monday afternoons, since he was out shopping in chino shorts and a t-shirt. He's such a cute little thing! Here's his high school yearbook picture!

After a quick spin through Bloomingdale's, Miss G navigated 3 subway changes to get herself to the Village, where she stopped by the Garage for still more delicious and well priced beverages! She decided to make a shopping tour of the village and found a great sale at Jack Spade where she picked up a beautiful leather bag for Boy G to carry his "stuff" to work!

After all that shopping, she twisted Mamie's arm to allow her to buy a birthday dinner for her dear, dear sister! We decided upon Centro Vinoteca, which happens to be the current "haunt" of Top Chef skank Leah Cohen, famous for schtupping Hose A Ya, the winner, all season long! We wanted SO BADLY to hate it, being the evil bitches that we are, but both had to admit the the food was delicious, the atmosphere delightful, and the service really top-notch! We also wanted to link to their website, but apparently Leah hasn't paid the bill, so instead I'll link to this review site, which makes it sound way more lesbonic than we found it to be!

After our delightful dinner, we ambled up 8th Avenue to the High Line, a park that has been created out of an abandonded elevated train track! What a beautiful and ingenious space!! It was a gorgeous night for such a jaunt, and many of the cities most lovely people were enoying the space as well!

We continued our wanderings through Chelsea, and before we knew it, we were approaching Midtown! The weather was so cool and comfortable, we decided to forego taxis and subways and walked the rest of the way to Time's Square, where we said our goodbye for this trip!

Miss G is SOOOOO happy to have a connection to New York, because she truly loves this city and really appreciates the chance to come and visit! She has every intention of returning in October for DDBW II !!!!

Snax in the City!

What a beautiful day we had in NYC today! After our dreary, rainy day yesterday and a derailed PATH trip to Arby's in New Jersey, Miss Ginger was thrilled to see the beautiful sun shining on Manhattan today!

We had kind of a long night at the Urges last night, so it took Mamie and Maddie a little while to get themselves moving this am! Miss G had a little brekkie at the hotel, and then well all met up in the early afternoon and took the train to Chinatown.

Maddie had her a hankering for a "borbequed pork bun" that she discovered the last time she was here, so we headed to this most excellent dumpling house, called, aptly, the Excellent Dumpling House. Nothing like just the right combination of grease, dough, and salt to pull a gurl through a wicked hangover! Poor Maddie and Mamie were hurtin'!

Then it was off to Pearl River Trading for some serious tchochke shopping! Miss Ginger has never seen so fuckin' many teapots in one place in her entire life! She did find herself a lovely black dress and she even bought Boy G a cotton kimono that won't be too hot to wear like a terry bathrobe is!

Next we strolled through Little Italy, snacking on gellatto and shopping the papis! All that walking made Maddie hungry again, so we stopped at another little dumpling house for some pork buns to go, and made our way through the village to Garage, where we knew us gurls could take a load of for a few minutes and refresh before continuing our journey!

It was just outside of the restaurant that Miss G had her "celebrity" sighting for the week, and she uses that term VERY loosely! Waiting to cross the street, with a gaggle of poseurs pretending to be his friends, was Merlin, from "The Fashion No"! He was dress in a pink polo and jeans, but that donkey -faced smile was a dead give away. Then, when he put his hands on his hips and stuck his little belly out like he always did on the show, we knew it was him! I couldn't get a clear shot to snap a pic, so you'll have to trust me on this one!

After a couple of cock-a-tails and snackies at Garage, we took the subway back to Times Square, where I bid Maddie and sad goodbye, and headed back to the hotel for a quiet evening and an early turn in!

Tomorrow.... shopping!

Happy Birfday, Dear DD!!

A VERY Happy Birthday to my dear, dear David Dust from Miss Ginger and the kitties! I hope you have a special day today, and can't wait to be there this weekend to help make sure you get a proper, papi-filled celebration!

I checked with Marjorie from FatFighters and she ensured me that birfday cake and bacardi limon are both low in fat, just like dust! So you can have as much as you like!

Weekend catchup...

Boy Ginger had to work this past Saturday... he hasn't had to work weekend in a long time, and thankfully won't have to again for awhile! It was "Texas Tax Holiday", meaning retailers don't have to collect sales tax on clothing purchases under $100. Now, at America's Favorite Department Store, we often have sale and clearance events where we discount prices by 25%, 50%, up to 75% or more. But it always surprises me how people seem to come out of the woodwork to save 8.25%!!! And it's an ugly crowd, with lots of snotnosed kids running amuck. Ick!
Boy G decided to make the most of the situation and decided to give himself a project to keep himself busy and make the time go by faster. So, he decided to "shake down" the shoes stockrooms in his 2 largest stores. This would give him the opportunity to discover the nitty-gritty condition of the operations AND shop for bargain shoes for Miss Ginger at the same time! And so you know he found not one single pair for that picky bitch?! It doesn't help that she has gargantuan size 11 feet! He's so glad that project is over!

Then last night Miss G's "Little Britain" DVD's arrived!! Miss G LOVES her some Little Britain! The DVD player wasn't hooked up correctly, so Boy G spent hours reworking the AV setup, but now the wires are labeled, and stapled, and all is good in the world! Miss G stayed up till 3am giggling at that show and lusting after the cute one, David Walliams! He may be the cutest thing to come out of Britain since, well..... surely Great Britain has been responsible for SOMETHING cute I could use to finish this similie, but I think I need a little help here!
Anyho, today should prove to be a busy day as well! My yoga teacher, the Darlie Lama, is coming by to bring me some kefir grains. (More on kefir later!) And then, a group of us going to NOLA for Southern Decadance are meeting to discuss our group costume and drink vodka. More on that costume as well.

And I only have 4 days of work this week, then I leave for NYC to visit my darling sister DD!! I hope he takes me sightseeing like he did last time I was in NYC!!

I've given you plenty of links to keep you busy for a while! What were all you 'snaps up to this weekend?!

Reader's Digest Condensed Version!

Sometimes at work when someone goes into "detail overload", the Boss will say "just give me the Reader's Digest Condensed version." Remember those odd books from the 60's and 70's that had like 4 titles "abridged" into one bound edition, so presumably one could read 4 books in the time it would normally take to read one. Momma G had hundreds of them!

Anyho, since everyone is SOOOO busy catching up after DDBW, I thought as a public service I would hit the highlights of what everyone is up to!

Miss Alaineus contemplates contentment and knock knock jokes,
Joy has a new passport photo,
and edder has fun with geometry (calculus?).

In world/political news:
Nutwood Beth makes a call to arms to totally jam the right-wing's anti-gay poll (Go, Beth Ann!),
Wonder Man outs the right wing oppressors,
Bob gives props to Hillary and drops on Obama,
and Dan remembers those lost in the Air France disaster.

And finally, in news from the Bunny Nation:

Zombie Mom sucked the memory out of everyone's cameras,
TrannyBeth continues her "dehomosexualization" exercizes (Dr. Eve, I don't thank this is WORKIN'!- GingerSnaps to the 'snap who ID's the source of that quote!),
Mark in DE posts his first round of DDBW pics,
Kailyn continues her attempt to detox,
and, Dust Bunnies, I regret to imform you that our dear
David Dust has lost touch with the world, suffering perhaps tragic data loss in his PC. He thinks it has a virus, but lets all just hope it's only hung over like the rest of us!
I leave you with 2 remaining pics- 1st, a rare and previously unpublished sighting of the elusive jotophurnalist, In'Ja:

and, at the request of my DARLING DD, a slightly retouched version of a previously published photo, focusing attention on the most important elements of the image. I hope you enjoy:

DDBW in Pictures!

Even though the Continental President's Club at LaGuardia is kind of a dump, the wireless internet works perfectly, so I've been able to use my wait time to get some photos of DDBW uploaded for you! These are from Friday night- Howard are David will have to post Saturday, because by that point I was too wickedly hung over to deal with a camera!

Here's the toast that started it all:
Here's DD having one for Auntie Flame:
And here's where you biatches all got me drunk! Yes, dear readers, it's YOUR fault! Since you couldn't make it to DDBW, David and I had to take one for the team and drink cocktails in your honor! (Do you all remember commenting "have one for me!?" You did!)
SO... here's to Str8upwithawsist:
Cheers to Nutwood Beth and Bucko!!
Miss Alaineous: Salut!
They were going down like water at that point, so we decided to make a trip to "Urge" to check out the dancing Papis! This one seemed to be unsuccessfully concealing weapons of mass destruction!
David went on a mission to check it out, but try as he might he never did get his hands on those weapons! Or did he?! Shoulda been here! You'll have to check his blog if you want the answer- Bunnies never tell!
