So, when did Black Friday become its own holiday? The day after Thanksgiving has traditionally been discussed by retail executives as "black" Friday because that is the day when profit margins turn in their favor, and supposedly the ink on their balance sheets turns from red to black. That's great industry shorthand, but is it REALLY a word you want to advertise to customers?
All the big retailers are doing it- Kohl's, Penney's, Target... even the greatest retailer on the planet is doing it:

So, who's going shopping on Friday?

Honey, would you believe I am off work till Monday! I don't know how it happened, and I didn't have to blow anyone!!! If I wasn't in retail though, I'd be so far from shopping, more likely in a bar drinking a GINGER sidecar!!!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving honey!!!
XOXOXOXOXOXOX
PS- this has to be a first with the no working in all my years too I might add.
Hell to the naw. Oh my gawd it's like the whole world is looking for a friend that day.
That commercial is hysterical!!!

Not me.
I cannot stand the craziness, the crowds, the pushing, the shoving, the name-calling, the rudeness.
I'm afraid i might hurt someone.
i think black friday is rampant consumerism coupled with unchecked greed. my heart goes out to anyone that has to work retail without having a choice or say in the matter.
i'll be home as well, enjoying a day without students.

You could not pay me enough to venture out shopping on BF. I am going to my Mom's to install a birdbath heater.
