Happy Birthday to Me...

Happy Birthday, Miss G!!


No, you didn't miss it!! It doesn't happen until February, 2013. But When it hits, it's gonna hit hard!  The big 5-0!  Over the Hill! Headed to Shady Pines!!  Oye!


But Miss G's not going down without a fight, so she has decided to throw herself a surprise birthday party!!!!


"Huh?" How can you surprise yourself?"  Well, it's easy!!  The party is going to be in New Orleans... who doesn't want to go there?  And, since her birthday falls on a Friday night, February 22nd, the date is easy to pick!  So how's it going to be a surprise?!


Easy- she has NO IDEA who's coming!!!  She might be there all by her lonesome,  tears draining into a warm beer at the Bourbon Pub.  But you wouldn't let that happen to our gurl, would you?


So, if you wanna come, all you have to do is email my brother John at JCBurch@msn.com.   Or our friend Sonna at salton77@yahoo.com.  They are both in on the idea.  Once they have an idea of the number of participants, they will work out details of the where, the when, etc.  Then, they can also contact hotels in the French Quarter to see if they can get a group rate.  The sooner you let them know you're on,  the more time they have to work out a deal.  Of course, you're welcome to stay wherever your little heart desires!  Bring yo friends! Bring yo kids!  Bring anyone who's up for a party!! 






I can't WAIT to see who loves Miss G enough to find their way to NOLA for the party!!  It may be her last hurrah before she's over the hill!!

Bad Travel Karma....

It's not like Miss Ginger used up all her good luck in Vegas on the slots... they just weren't that generous on this trip. There were high points of the vacation, for sure! The tasting menu at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant was fabulous, as always, and we had a great view of the Bellagio Fountains from our table. We found a great deal for our other meals, as well. By Vegas standards, $35 would not be an unheard of price for a single casino buffet. But with Harrah's fleet of Total Rewards Casinos comes the "Buffet of Buffets"... a 24 hour pig-fest that is nothing short of genius! For $35 they load the deal onto your players card, and you can dine at any buffet at any of their properties- from Caesar's, to Planet Hollywood, to Rio, and Paris.... Time it right by starting with a late breakfast one day and an early one the next and you could get 4 complete meals!! We also managed to get in our mid-Saturday sushi-fest tradition at Hyakumi at Caesar's Palace. Sushi in the desert seems a bit crazy, but it's consistently some of the best Miss Ginger has ever had!

The trip goes downhill on Monday, however. This is not what one wants to see after a holiday weekend of rich food, too much booze, and sleep deprivation! Apparently there was a mechanical issue on the runway in Newark, so the plane scheduled to whisk Miss G back to her kitties had to be replaced, rerouted, and reloaded for the route, resulting in a 5 hour delay!! At least Las Vegas has a beautiful new President's Club lounge that surprisingly, isn't too crowded! The day could be somewhat redeemed if the folks at Continental come through with the 1st class upgrade Miss G so richly deserves! At least then she could catch some Z's on the way home!

Home Sweet Home!

Miss Ginger is glad to be home for a while! And Miss Shelby has declared that this suitcase is not leaving this house again any time soon... at least not without her!

We're all caught up on occupational reality TV, so Miss G can go back and read the "spoiler" posts she skipped on her blogroll!

We're catching up on the news.

Stocks gain on takeover news, rising commodities

NEW YORK—Rising commodity prices and stirrings of corporate takeovers are making investors more optimistic about the economy, sending stocks higher today for the third consecutive session.
A takeover bid from Kraft Foods Inc. for Cadbury is reviving hopes that the economy could be improving.
According to preliminary calculations, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 56 to 9,497; the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 9 to 1,025; and the Nasdaq composite index rose 19 to 2,038.
The three indexes also rose Thursday and Friday. U.S. exchanges were closed Monday for Labor Day.

And although Miss G is admittedly not an expert on economics, she can't help but wonder how the news that one mega-conglomerate absorbing another one can be taken as a sign that the economy is improving. Take note, people: nothing has changed. And no changes are planned. We are stuck with this for a long, long, time!

And, we're all back on our diet. Life is good!

She's "In"!

Miss Ginger is "In"! She will be attending the "Duststorm on New York" the weekend after Memorial Day! She didn't realize New York was prone to Dust Storms, but after this weekend, she thinks they will be able to expect them at least annually!

Boy G will definitley be there. Miss Ginger may need a little arm twisting. She doesn't really relish travel, and strange places tend to make her nervous. But if we can convince her that all will be well and accepting, we may be able to get her to hang out around the hotel, and maybe even go out with us one night. It will take some convincing!

Everybody gang up on Str8upwithatwist and convince him he needs to attend as well!

I'm still waiting on DD to give me the scoop on where to stay, but once we've booked a hotel we'll let you know!

Packin' Her Bags and Hittin' the Road!

Miss Ginger has a 7am flight to NOLA in the morning- ugh! She hates alarm clocks with a passion! It's been a long weekend, and it's going to be an even longer workweek with awards luncheons, visits, and lots of driving between the stores! She doesn't get back to Chez Ginger until Friday evening! Hopefully next weekend there's nothing going on so Miss G can get some rest and get some more things done around the house!

She has let so many "life chores" pile up that she's taking a "staycation" the week after Easter to catch up on it all! Then she can schedule her car for service, veterinary appointments for the kids, a dental appointment that 2 months overdue, and her hugely anticipated colonoscopy!! Fun times in store for Miss G!
