Many longtime readers of TFBOMGG know that the Queen's Outside Kitty, Nog, has quite a menagerie of critter friends that come to dine with him on a regular basis. Birds in the morning, possums at night, and squirrels throughout the afternoon.
Recently, we've seen a new friend among Nog's squirrelfriends, a solid black fellow, just like Nog! Queen G is not sure about other parts of the country, but around here, squirrels are pretty much grey, so when you see one that's a different color, it's pretty noticeable.
Of course, the most frequent visitors are given names, so this little black guy has been dubbed "Herman", after Herman Cain, the squirreliest black guy we could think of!

I've never seen a Black Squirrel.
He sure is purty though.
And the name fits to a T.
I have squirrels who run through along my back wall. I've named them Sparky and Scooter. Sparky stops and waves his tail at me. No lie!
Welcome to Herm.
It is strange, we have grays and reds here, but 20 miles away in Michigan they have the blacks. I need to do some squirrel research...
Ahhhhhh, aint he cuuuuuuuute! I have one that comes every morn when I leave for work. He comes running when he hears the door open to get a nut. I named him Bouvier.
LOL! Herman! Good one!
LOL Perfect name!
There are also black squirrels just 20-some miles to our east, in Elkhart county. I've never seen a one here at Nutwood, though, and I don't think they're in this county. The closest we got was a strange little fellow who was black on his underside and red on top. I saw him running repeatedly into a tree, so I think he wasn't altogether there, and I didn't see him after the tree incident. :(
