Today can only be described as "insanity"! It was the charity shopping day for the return to New Orleans of "America's Favorite Department Store". (I'm not authorized to speak to the press so I can't "say" the name!) OMG- I have been through 9 or 10 of these events in my 20+ year career, but I have NEVER seen so many people in one department store in my life!!! It was CRAZY!!! We opened the doors at the mall entrance and it took 4 full minutes for the waiting crowd to flow into the building. And there are 3 other entrances that were just as crowded! I heard that the people in special events estimate 100 people for every minute of flow, so that would be 400 people times 4 entrance, meaning 1,600 people flooded into the building in the 1st 4 minutes!! And the floodgates never closed! Can't wait to see what kind of volume we did!!
I wanted to badly to snap and post a picture but that would have been against the rules. So you'll just have to use you imagination!
So tonight it's room service of panini, wedge salad, and a bottle of pinot grigio. Tomorrow we clean up the mess and rebuild our beautiful store!

I think insanity pretty much describes the picture I have in my mind. Wow! 1,600 people in 4 min. That must of been some serious elbowing going on. (Hugs)Indigo
Congrats on a job well done.
XOXOXO
People in NOLA deserve some excitement in their lives! I'm sure they really appreciate everything S'YCAM is doing.
Wow, that DOES sound crazy! I think I would have had serious claustrophobia as I got bounced around from shopper to shopper like a pinball. LOL
I always wondered why you never wrote the name of what Timmy called S'YCAM. Haha! Now I know.
Hope you're getting a chance to catch your breath tonight!
Hugs, Beth
Sounds like the opening is a success! I'm drinking to that :o)
It sounds like it was a mad house! I wish I had been there, it sounds like the the day after thanksgiving! I love going out to shop that day! Linda
Hope you had a safe vantage point to overlook this bedlam! It can be exciting, and like Linda, the day after Thanksgiving is something everyone should do at least once in their life! Watching the stores ads on TV! D
