Gardening, Day 2!

A second day of gardening has left the grounds at Chez Ginger presentable, but there's still lots of work to be done! And, there are no pics, because by the time Boy G finished powerwashing the flagstone patio, it was too dark to take photos! The G's LOVE Daylight Savings Time, because it give them extra time in the evenings to get things done! Miss Ginger wishes we would stay on it all year long! Who cares if we go to work in the dark? Anyway, we'll get some pics posted when we can.
The "color of the year" this year is pink, so there's pink geraniums and petunias in abundance. And some Dusty Miller to brighten things up! Dusty Miller doesn't flower, but Miss G loves any plant that has a fabulous drag name! (And it holds up well in our Texas heat!)

What are you planting this year?

I'm too triflin' - another good Southern word. I guess I should since so many of you are. If I do, I'll take a picture of it.

We're planting was myrtles along the road for privacy, and then planting something called Japanese firebrush along the path to the house because of it's seasonal color.
Other than that, we're good. Carlos will tend to his roses, and we'll prune and so on.
The dogwoods in the yard are starting to bloom at the very top so spring is a'coming.

We've got a couple of months before we can plant anything in our shady garden. And because it's so shady, we tend to have lots of impatiens, plus a few petunias and geraniums. Nothing fancy.

I've always had an intense dislike for dusty miller because it reminds me of plastic plants!

In the vegetable garden, it will be the usual suspects: peppers, beans, cukes, zucchini, lettuce, radishes...and plenty of tomatoes!

As for flowers, I planted some spring-flowering bulbs last fall--we'll see if those come up soon. I don't plant a lot of flowers, but I'm trying to build up our front flower bed with perennials, to get away from replanting annuals every year. One of my favorite perennials is Shasta daisies, because they're so hardy...they can survive even ME! LOL

I so SO looking forward to getting out soon. Still too chilly, and I won't be able to plant heat-lovers like tomatoes until the end of May. But we have some prep work to do before that, so I'll be happy when we can get to work on it.

Hugs, Beth

Fresh Herbs and Torenias will be all that I add this year, as I am working with containers until I decide on a house or staying in the apartment.... :]

I'm still under a lot os snow...it snowed monday, it snowed today...and I've got my ass cheeks clenched waiting for the fist signs of spring. Did see a Robin last week and he's started his nest right in front of my kitchen door in a big yew bush.

So have you done anything with the damage on the end of the drive yet?
