We're all caught up on occupational reality TV, so Miss G can go back and read the "spoiler" posts she skipped on her blogroll!
We're catching up on the news.
Stocks gain on takeover news, rising commodities

NEW YORK—Rising commodity prices and stirrings of corporate takeovers are making investors more optimistic about the economy, sending stocks higher today for the third consecutive session.
A takeover bid from Kraft Foods Inc. for Cadbury is reviving hopes that the economy could be improving.
According to preliminary calculations, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 56 to 9,497; the Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 9 to 1,025; and the Nasdaq composite index rose 19 to 2,038.
The three indexes also rose Thursday and Friday. U.S. exchanges were closed Monday for Labor Day.

And although Miss G is admittedly not an expert on economics, she can't help but wonder how the news that one mega-conglomerate absorbing another one can be taken as a sign that the economy is improving. Take note, people: nothing has changed. And no changes are planned. We are stuck with this for a long, long, time!
And, we're all back on our diet. Life is good!

Welcome back! It's always great to get home.
Glad to hear you survived NOLA. Does Miss Shelby try to climb into your bag when you're packing to leave? And why am I suddenly remembering scenes from Steel Magnolias?
Glad you're back! Shelby is so cute. She's thinking "This suitcase isn't going anywhere unless I'M in it!" XOXO
My word verification is 'unballs.' ::giggle::
This is why I probably won't go to the DDBW in October. I'll have just returned from being gone for a week, and that seems too soon to leave my cat alone again. It's a big deal getting someone to take care of her while I'm gone.
So you'd better make Shelby happy and stay home for a while, Ms Jet Setter!
welcome back! i am brain dead right now and i need to go drink some coffee so i can think straight..be back later!
smoking can cancify your body as well as empty your wallet.

Glad you are home safe and sound. As for the conglomerate thing, I think that means that the credit markets are starting to open up a bit so they can finance a takeover with the target future growth. There are real bargains out there right now, so I would anticipate an acceleration of mergers and takeovers as we continue to recover.
Welcome back home! Shelby is a doll and obviously full of as much personality as you. Right now i don't we are going to see any economic changes for the common folk. I think the only economic change we will see anytime soon will be larger corporations or financiers, who have collateral, having the ability to borrow more in order to consolidate, merge, and buy failed business, property, and other surplus assets. It is going to take a long time to trickle back down.
Back on a diet? What the hell for??
Awww... Kitty Cat Shelby missed you!!! How sweet! Welcome back!
She looks serious about you not going anywhere soon. MBC
